My spirituality helps me focus on things other than depression and "the material world". It's my utter fear of death that has kept me safe

My faith believes in reincarnation, sometimes I can accept that belief and sometimes I struggle with it. It also helps me not to get attached to things in the material world and to put spirituality before them

I don't have a faith or religion I wish I could believe but I can't. I remember asking the padres in the army if I will be cleansed of doing bad and be forgiven for seeing bad things and not acting upon them I remember the answer as though it was yesterday faith comes from within and if you believe you are doing the right thing then you will be forgiven.I turned around and said to him but what if doing the right thing is against army officials orders he said British army officials are always right and you do as your told.I think somehow his explanation and knowledge was floored. If there is life after death I prey that I will be forgiven for the bad and that they can see the true goodness inside of me.

I used to work for the Church of Scotland but have come to my senses. There is a famous Bible quote of Jesus, "The Kingdom of God is within".... Heaven, your higher self, spirituality, is all as we make it. I think forgiveness perhaps comes from the person you wrong, maybe from a "God", but more importantly, I think we need to learn to forgive ourselves

I didnt have a faith for many years Terry, sometimes beliefs come along when you are least expecting it. I believe if you are good inside that shines through and my faith teaches that you need to obey instructions when in the forces and you will not be judged adly for it (at least one of our Masters served in the army)

Well let's just hope I get forgiven zaf. Maybe I will find faith as I get a little older.

I was very anti faith when I was younger Terry, somehow it just crept up on me and even then I went via several other faiths till something felt just right for me. We are all different but as long as we try to lead a good life I'm sure we are forgiven in the long run

I think the army also drains you of any faith you had but I guess that's when you need to keep the faith the most

For me, beliefs and faith has come from 40 years of casually searching and by trial and error. When something feels right, I usually go with it.

It took me many years to find a faith that felt right and when I found it (or perhaps it found me) it was quite by chance

Sometimes things do find us and it feels like a blessing when they do

Constant focusing on one's reasons for being depressed is not the best solution.

It helps to know why we get depressed I think, or at least it helps me
