Tough times. I know from years of experience how difficult it can be to look after someone who is a little confused, let alone looking after an unwell pet too. The only thing I would say is to know your limits Zaf. If you overload yourself and become a little overwhelmed, you will be less able to care for your mum and this can quickly lead to problems. Its a hard thing to find the right balance but it can be done - just try to ask for help from family if you can when you feel a little tired.
Im always here to advise you if I can.
Take care
G.

It is, she is not on any painkillers now but apart from being very stiff when she starts to move about she doesnt seem to be in pain, a couple of the wounds seem a little messy but I'm keeping them clean till she has her next appointment on Friday, if there seems a problem in the meantime I'll phone the vet and if necessary take her back beforehand.
Mum seems reasonably OK and allowed me to cook her a hot meal this lunchtine, its good to see her getting her appetite back and allowing us to help, the doctor should be coming in tomorrow so I hope Im around when he arrives so I can have a quick word.
This afternoon I'm planning a bit of a nap and hopefully things will settle down properly before too long

Dear Zaf - have things improved in any way? I realise that it's never easy to focus on yourself, but it's important to take little steps to be kind to YOURSELF for a while. You can't just keep giving to others. I hope that your mother is continuing to improve. Michael. xx

Tired and feeling a tiny bit pressured that I'm having to juggle things about to fit everyting in around other people, I need a bit of routine back in my life but am struggling to achieve it.

It may take a while for things to settle back into a routine. There has been a lot going on in your life.

It certainly has been a very disrupted and anxious few weeks Glen, I'm really fortunate that Jan is holding the fort in the office as I really dont think Id have coped if I'd had all that to do as well. Hopefully once the frequent vets visits have eased up I'll get a chance to get a bit more structure to my life Z xxx

Having a loved one or family member become that ill in hospital is a huge drain on anyone, but when you have depression too it must be very difficult. You also have added weight on top of this too but despite what you may think, you have done very well. Ive seen perfectly healthy strong people crumble under this sort of pressure, but you have held it together so well Zaf. The decisions you've made cant have been easy but you have made them and stuck by them. You've been strong when you have needed to be and that is to be commended. Just make sure you talk when you need to. Its the hardest part in all this.
Big hugs to you Zaf.

Thanks Glen, talking makes a huge difference with this illness sometimes, especially with fellow sufferers as se understand each others perspective.
Hope all is well with you

Not too bad today, having a bit of a routine helps, as with so many things in life its getting the balance right - not too rigid a routine or I get stressed, no routine and I get stressed!
