Im not surprised you have had a 'blip' Zaf. You have had a lot on your mind of late and eventually its no longer possible to put a brave face on things. This happened to me a year ago as I remember and I ended up in hospital.
Im not sure what to suggest except resting when you can, although I understand that a lot of these problems 'follow' us wherever we try to hide. Im always here for a chat if you need it - just message me here or on Facebook if you need me.
I really hope today is a better day for you. x

Thanks Glen, Ive only done the bare essentials in the office this morning and am gently doing some housework. I know its the business that causes my stress but it seems impossible not to have to go in sometimes despite having a lovely lady now doing all the accounts.
Feeling tired and fragile today so trying to take some of my own advice and rest

Indeed rest is good if you can as everything is so much more difficult if you are tired. That said it's not easy if you have work that gas to get done.
I hope you feel a little better soon.

Dear Zaf, I know that it won't be at all easy for you, but you really need a bit of real "me" time, where you can think only of yourself, and recharge your batteries. A good start might be not bothering to reply to this post! Best wishes and fast improvements for your back. Michael. PS thanks ro the avatar.

Its definitely not easy Michael but I really must make more effort to do just that. My back is getting worse so it looks like a phone call to the osteopath in the morning Z xxx I missed your wee cat

Try harder to ignore my posts. Especially when I say, "thanks ro the avatar". At the very least, you should expect better spelling! Good luck with the ostio... ostera... bone specialist.

My back hurts like hell despite going to the osteopath yesterday, I feel grumpy, tired and a little tearful. I can see everything around me getting messy but cant physically do anything about it which is beginning to get to me, a silly thing has upset me much more than it should have and I would just like one whole week where my body and mind give me a bit of peace for a change

I'm sorry to hear that you feel so bad Zaf. My parents have a friend in Wales who has been in pain for a long time now, but he is getting treated by an acupuncturist, and he says that it certainly helps. This is performed free under the NHS in Wales, but I believe that the rules are different due to the devolution of certain decisions. You are a good kind person, but you can't do everything all at once. You are great with everyone else's problems. Please try to be a little kinder to yourself.

Thanks Michael, I did have some acupuncture on Thursday and I know sometimes I feel worse after osteopathy but this time it seems to be worse than usual. I have to remind myself that there are a lot of people a lot worse off than myself and not whinge about things but Ive got to admit o feeling pretty grim atm I shall rest a lot this weekend if I can, Z xxxx

Other peoples problems are theirs to deal with Zaf and you can only help so much. You care, too much sometimes I think and while its very kind of you to worry about us, Micheal is right - you need more time to take it easy
I don't see you as whinging at all, just venting which is something we all need to do.
If I may ask a few questions and give some small advice? Do you find your back feels worse in the morning or the evening? When you sit down, what is your posture like? Do you tend to bend a lot? (I do when Im doing housework!) In my opinion, you need to cut down on the more stressful areas of your day that may hurt your back - don't bend down or do anything that makes your spine curve like sitting with a bad posture - If you need to pick something up, then bend your knees and not your back. Don't lift if you can help it. Try short gentle walks if you can but keep them short. When you sit, try using an upright chair with a good back to it - try not to slouch on the sofa if you can. Also try stretching out on a hard surface for a little while - it can help to keep your back straight. Try also to avoid doing any specific exercises for back pain until you clear it with your doc. I know a lot of sites advise simple techniques but some of them can make back pain worse depending on the cause and location of the pain.
Rest is good, but try to remain a little mobile if you can. Immobilising your back can make things worse.
I hope all this helps Zaf. It wont cure it, but it may make things a bit easier for you.

I think caring too much is often something depressed peope do Glen, its in our make up and very difficult to change, perhaps its part of what actually makes us depressed?
I have a lot of lower back problems due to a car accident in the 70s (and probably a lifetime f heavy horsey chores), this time the symptoms get more severe as the day progresses and standing/walking is one of the things that is particularly bad. I try hard to be mindful how I am moving and think of the Alexander Technique lessons Ive had in the past, but its not easy to keep remembering! The osteopath was supposed to be emailing me osme specific exercises but I will ave to nag him Monday as so far they havent arrived yet. Thanks for all the other advice and tips, much appreciated
