I hope that things are going a bit better today Zaf. We've got sunshine here, but that doesn't mean that you should start rushing around. Take it easy.

Its like winter here Michael so definitely no rushing around here today. Things are improving thank you, I think I've been overdoing things a bit so need to be sensible for a few days

Well, it just shows how getting overtired and/or 'silly' life events can tip the scales....
Friday we had a planned power outage so, as the modern office cant function these days without electricity, Jan and decided we'd have a much needed spring clean in there. It went well but I definitely got very tired.
The weather continued to be depressing, bitterly cold with torrential rain all day.
I went to collect my new prescription glasses and discovered they made square things look like parallelograms, I started getting irritated, I went back to the opticians and they checked the prescription etc and told me to persevere as my eyes had changed a lot so I came home and persevered getting more and more irritable so I decided to stop using the ipad or watching TV and thought I'd season my new (very cheap) cast iron wok, I cleaned one side of it for hours and hours with no obvious reduction in the anti rust protective paint and so became extra tired, more irritable and exhausted
This morning I tried using the damned glasses, no different and I was getting more and more upset so I decided to cut my losses and have the old lenses put back in the frames while I decide what to do. Once that decision was made my stress levels halved.
The wok was taken over to our workshop and given hell with the rotary wire brush, it turned out the damned thing was covered in something that was either clear or the same colour as the wok so I would never have achieved what I thought I needed, aaarrrggghhhh. So I've now spent all day 'seasoning' it, not a particularly arduous job as I do it in the oven but it does need taking out and more oil putting on hourly, it means the kitchen is a mess so thats mildly irritating.
All in all stress levels down by about 90% the wok is in for its last baking then I need to cook some onions and ginger in it to finish off.
In a way its frightening how a couple of relatively silly things on top of rubbish weather and being over tired han make so much difference to my mood especially as I thought I was managing my illness fairly well these days

Sounds like you've been overdoing things, Zaf. I must say, young lady, you kept your spring clean very quiet, probably knowing the 'nag-squad' would be out to get you. Naughty Zaf!! I know exactly what you mean about the protective coating, which is actually normally clear New glasses are difficult and your eyesight must have changed considerably. Your eyes are working hard to re-adjust to the correction. The Optician must be sick of people going back to them because I did, and so do many other people that I know! Would it be a good idea to wear them for an increasing amount of time every day? Maybe, while your doing housework, so there is something to distract the unpleasantness. Increase it daily by half hour and wear your old lenses for the rest of the time? You must be needing the stronger lenses, but maybe go to another optician for a 2nd opinion. If you've taken the old lenses out, get them put back into a cheap frame. I have reasonable eyesight but cannot read anything without over-the-counter reading glasses. But, I have some kind of condition in the eye (can't remember what it's called) but it takes me longer to focus on objects. The lenses I USED to get are exactly like yours. When walking on flat floors, it looks like there are steps and my view of everything is with horizontal lines. I couldn't get used to them. I hope you start to feel better soon

Thanks Cat, I was probably stupid wanting varifocals as I'd had problems in the past, the bifocals were fine but I just needed a different prescription. I'll see what the optician says next week but I'll only be able to wear them if I'm feeling calm and not tired as I know I will react badly otherwise.
I only need glasses for reading and driving but also find watching TV easier with medium distance glasses. I cant walk about in any glasses as I too feel lie I'm walking upstairs and become sea sick in varifocals - the joys if getting older!!

Feel for you Zaf, I couldn't get in with my varifocals either. I went back to single vision. As i wear contacts as well, I need reading glasses to read when I am wearing them anyway.
Hope you have a restful long weekend, you deserve it.
