It seems a rising elderly population is getting a lot of blame but thats too simplistic. I think a lot of the problem is the new 111 service, not being able to access out of hours GPs much of the time, NHS 'tourism' and bed blocking caused by the NHS and local authorities not getting together properly so that people can be discharged promptly with a proper care package already set up - from the experience with both my dad and an uncle in law it took at least a week from being told they could be discharged to when they could actually be sent home or to a suitable care home.

One of the most stupid things that the powers to be running the NHS was to shut cottage hospitals where patients could be discharged as a half way house between the main hospital discharging them and being abe to go home or somewhere else with support and care.

Despite it being grey, cold and drizzly and Harry (dog) needing to go out several times from about 4am onwards I had a decent start but now I'm on a chore and reward day, its the only way I'm going to get the housework done and if I leave it looking grotty I know it wont help hw I feel at all.

If it had been a nice day I'd have gone out with the pony which would have lifted my mood but keeping warm is important when I feel low
